With graduation right around the corner, it is time to take a step back and appreciate the seniors preparing to walk across the stage. As they reflect on their time as Titans, one senior in particular had plenty to say about his four years at Hidden Valley.
Jack Janiga is an athlete, a role model and, most importantly, a friend to many. Janiga has consistently excelled in the classroom and will attend University of Notre Dame this fall. One of his favorite high school memories came from playing Jeopardy in Mrs. Ebel’s class. “It was always competitive and a fun break from normal class,” Jack said.
Although Jack found success academically, he also achieved plenty on the lacrosse field. As a captain and leader of the team, Jack became someone his teammates looked up to both on and off the field. “I’m most proud of playing lacrosse. It taught me a lot about discipline, teamwork and pushing through challenges,” Jack said.
Keeping in touch with friends after graduation is something Jack values deeply. When discussing staying connected, he said, “It’ll probably be harder with everyone going different directions, especially being far away, but I definitely want to keep in contact.” Even with distance, friendships often find a way to last.
While high school creates memories that last forever, graduation also opens the door to many new experiences. Jack said he is especially excited about “growing and seeing what I’m capable of in the next stages of life.” Despite balancing academics and athletics, he also kept a sense of humor. When asked what he was most passionate about, Jack joked, “Though I cared a lot about school, I’d say I’m most passionate about finding the best way to sleep.”
As Jack prepares to transition from Titan to Fighting Irish student, the Hidden Valley community wishes him the best. When asked which historical figure he would most want to have dinner with, Jack chose Napoleon Bonaparte. “He’s one of the most influential military leaders in history, and I’d want to hear how he made decisions under pressure and led people so effectively,” Jack said.
Jack leaves Hidden Valley having made a lasting impact through his leadership, kindness and dedication.
