Garry Norris Jr. is a member of the Class of 2026 at Hidden Valley High School. Over the past four years, he has been described as a positive presence and a helping hand to those around him.
Norris said one of his favorite high school memories was Miss Oakes’ science class during his freshman year. “It was entertaining, even though I never got my work done,” he said. He has also been a member of the school’s wrestling team since his freshman year and said he is grateful for the sport and the coaches who have supported him throughout his high school career.
Norris said if he could give his freshman-year self advice, he would emphasize the importance of involvement outside the classroom. He said extracurricular activities and community involvement are just as important as maintaining a strong GPA when preparing for college.
After graduation, Norris plans to travel to Brazil to visit family, attend an intensive wrestling camp and take a trip to the Outer Banks with friends. In the fall, he will attend Roanoke College, where he plans to play football while continuing his education.
Norris also expressed appreciation for his closest friends, crediting them with helping shape who he is today. While he says high school has been an important chapter in his life, he is looking forward to the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead.
