Senior Alan Barker is known throughout Hidden Valley High School for his continued enthusiasm and kindness.

Throughout high school, Barker maintained his status as a multi sport athlete by participating in soccer, tennis and track, where he developed a strong passion for fitness and outdoor activity. In addition to competing in VHSL athletics, he founded one of the largest clubs at Hidden Valley, the pickleball club, which has grown to more than 50 members and has become a strong presence in the school community.

Outside of sports, Barker is involved in several clubs, including DECA, journalism and pickleball club. During his high school career, he also attended numerous competitions through DECA, gaining experience in business related events and leadership development.

After graduation, Barker plans to serve a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in the Philippines, where he will participate in community outreach, public service and humanitarian work. Following his mission, he plans to attend Brigham Young University, where he will study computer science and hopes to eventually start his own technology company.

Barker said he thoroughly enjoyed his high school experience and noted that one of his favorite memories was getting his hair buzzed off after AP exams. He also said he is most proud of his involvement in DECA under Mr. Hunt and the competitions he attended throughout high school.

He said he is most passionate about sharing his faith and serving others around the world during his mission. As he prepares for the next chapter of his life, Barker said he is excited for what lies ahead and grateful for his experiences at Hidden Valley.
