As the school year comes to an end, graduating seniors are being recognized for their achievements and contributions to Hidden Valley High School. Among them is Cheyenne Howery, who attended Hidden Valley for three years and is graduating early. This fall, she plans to attend Hollins University, where she will major in film.
Howery said she is excited about the future and eager to continue pursuing her passion for filmmaking.
“I’m most excited about getting to work more in film and getting to work on my own films that I write instead of working on other people’s writing,” Howery said.
Known for her creativity and enthusiasm, Howery has consistently demonstrated a strong passion for writing and filmmaking through the projects she has worked on during high school.
When reflecting on the teacher who had the biggest impact on her, Howery pointed to Mrs. Beggarly.
“She was always my favorite class to go to the past two years, and she always made me feel so confident in my writing,” Howery said.
One of Howery’s favorite high school memories dates back to her freshman year, when she and a friend watched the horror film Creep in class during the final week of school.
“There’s a part in the movie where he’s wearing this wolf mask and growling and shaking his hips, and I laughed so hard I fell off the desk,” Howery said.
Howery also reflected on one of her favorite experiences from this year: collaborating with a group of friends on a film lab project that premiered at the Grandin Theatre. Serving as the editor for the project, she said the opportunity was both exciting and rewarding.
“This lab was an extremely new and exciting thing that I got to help participate in, and I greatly enjoyed the role that I played,” Howery said.
As she prepares to graduate, Howery said she is grateful for the people she met and the experiences she gained during her time at Hidden Valley. She especially values the opportunity to learn from others while making lasting memories with friends and classmates.
