The bob haircut has been making a comeback online, but isn’t really seen much in the next generation. The style first became popular and originated in the 1920s because of the flapper movement, and now it’s trending again on social media and with some celebrities. Still, most students and younger people aren’t getting bobs, so is it really fashion, or just something that looks better online?
One reason the bob is coming back is because it’s a low maintenance haircut. It’s short, simple, and easy to take care of, which sounds perfect in theory. A lot of people like how clean and put-together it can look and how it shapes their face. However, most people aren’t rushing to get one and personally feel like it isn’t the prettiest haircut. Many feel like it wouldn’t suit them or that it’s too big of a change. Carly Johnston (9) said she wouldn’t get a bob right now because she doesn’t think it would look good on her, but she doesn’t mind if other people get one. Eva Munoz (9) agreed, saying she wouldn’t get one because its too big of a change and she doesn’t think it’s a great style in general even on others.
The bob might be trending, but it hasn’t fully made its way into most people’s next haircut decisions. For now, it seems like more of an online trend. Whether it becomes more popular or fades again just depends on if people are willing to try it. Most people agree that hair is a personal choice, and people should do whatever they want with it
