A new club is coming to HVHS called HOSA. It is a medical based club where students participate in competitions comparatively to DECA. This introduces an engaging, hands-on opportunity for students interested in participating in the medical field.
The goal is to have it up and running at the end of this year and participate in competitions next year. The founders are Evan Cobb, Stephen Neale, and Carter Dralle. By this date, the first meeting has already happened where they discussed the competition and reviewed common medical terminology.
Evan Cobb (11) explains, “HOSA is an Internationally recognized organization that focuses on educating students who are interested in the medical field and giving them an avenue to refine their skills.” The club has an active membership of over 200,000 members across 4 nations. Hidden Valley hopes to join the 4,000 chapters across the world.
As a rapidly growing club, many members find themselves drawn to it. If anyone is interested in joining, you can reach out to [email protected], or hvhshosa on Instagram. They meet in room 114 on club days, and all are welcome. No previous experience is needed, just a positive attitude.
This club is a big step for Hidden Valley High School; it opens the door to a number of opportunities for people who dream of being part of the medical field. Roanoke county already offers a plethora of medical related classes through BCAT, but this gives the same chance to people who attend Hidden Valley High School. HOSA is working towards connecting local medical professionals to students.
