Here at Hidden Valley Highschool the Roanoke County school board approved the construction of a new turf field, replacing the muddy soccer field. Currently at our soccer field a team of construction workers are working on taking down our dirt field and turning it into a nice, new turf field. This project will hopefully be done around spring, just in time for soccer and lacrosse.
Ever since the high school was built some Hidden Valley sports team’s like soccer have been practicing and playing games on a mud filled grass field, with some sports such as lacrosse resorting to playing home games at Bogle stadium. However, this year Hidden Valley is getting an all new turf field put in place over the current existing field. This will allow both soccer and lacrosse to Play their games at a proper home field. This will allow for a better feel for the field allowing athletes to let out their full potential on the field.
This new turf field has many athletes excited. One athlete, (Josh Mowles 11) who plays lacrosse, has this to say. “Having a true home field to play at will be a new experience that I’m excited for. Mowles also had this to say, “Whenever I play on turf everything feels more fluent so having our own will be good.” Not only does the new field have the lacrosse boys happy, It also is being praised by those who play soccer. (Patrick Doyle 11) said “I’ve always hated playing on grass field after it rains. It brings these mud puddles.” Looks like people aren’t too sad to see the old field go.
It’s safe to say new turf field coming to Hidden Valley is going to be highly praised by all athletes who will use it. Thank you to the Roanoke County school board for funding this massively needed upgrade.
