First, you might think of a principal as someone who just sits in their office and tells people what to do, but this is not the case for Mr. Joe Jablonski. He’s the kind of principal who’s always walking around the halls, talking to students, and trying to make school a better place for everyone as he explained, “I like to talk with young students and inspire them to become a better person,” Jablonski said. “I want to help them graduate into something that’s going to be a positive influence for future generations and contribute to society in general,” describes Jablonski. You can tell he really cares about the students and wants them to succeed not just in school, but in life.
The new and cool thing about Mr. Jablonski is that he doesn’t act like he’s “too important” to do normal things like everyone else has done. “I do simple tasks that you wouldn’t expect me to do on a daily basis such as cleaning toilets and subbing for teachers,” he said, “you wouldn’t think that I would do such things because of my status as being a principal.” It’s not something you see every day — a principal willing to do any job just to keep the school running smoothly. He shows that being a good leader means helping wherever you’re needed.
Jablonski also said he always knew he wanted to work in education. “I thought about being a teacher. I thought about education in general,” he said. “But being an administrator was something I thought of a lot in my younger years as I started going through my education, and I’m happy that I did it. I’ve been doing this for 20 years.” You can tell he loves to do what he does. When he’s talking with students, covering a class, or even cleaning up the school, Mr. Jablonski proves that being a principal is more than the rule. It’s about caring for people and setting an example for everyone around you and helping to shape our future generation
