March 5th through March 7th presented us with the 2026 World Baseball Classic where players and teams competed from all over the world.
The World Baseball Classic is a series of games in a tournament style where players in the minor and major leagues play with their country of origin. This is a big event for players to show their love of their country and represent them by hopefully winning the Championship game.
Noah Womeldorf (11) and Hunter Mixon (12) were both supporting Team USA as Hunter Mixon says, ” This is our country and I don’t see another team beating Team USA.”
Several teams popped out and played very well this year such as Italy, The United States, Venezuela, Japan and Puerto Rico.
Noah Womeldorf states, ” I think that USA and Venezuela did really good and how well Italy did was a surprise, I don’t think anyone saw them succeeding at that scale…I think Italy messed up some seeding since they had a couple good wins,” explain Hunter Mixon.
“Ronald Acuna Jr did really good this year, he was hitting the ball well and played good defense. I can see him continuing this into the regular MLB season,” explained Hunter Mixon on outstanding players in the World Baseball Classic. Noah Womeldorf added, “I think Bobby Whitt did really good; he had some really good defensive plays and I believe he was hitting above .300 in the tournament.”
The United States and Venezuela were the final teams in the World Baseball Classic, with Venezuela ending on top in a very close game, winning 3-2 in nine innings.
