High school and college dance teams from across the United States traveled to Orlando, Florida in January 2026 to compete in the UDA national Dance Team Championship. This multi-day event was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and brought together hundreds of teams, each performing carefully choreographed routines in hope of earning national recognition and a championship title.

The 2026 UDA nationals showcased a wide range of divisions and styles, from jazz and hip-hop to pom and game day. Teams qualified for nationals through regional competitions or invitationals, and their performances were judged on technique, synchronization, difficulty, choreography, and overall performance quality. With every routine, the stakes were high, as even minor mistakes could affect the final placements.

One spectator, Brynn Testerman, said she chose to watch the competition because of its reputation. “UDA Nationals is known for being the highest level of competitive dance,” she said. “I wanted to see how far the teams were able to push themselves and what the best of the best really looks like.” Testerman described the overall atmosphere as intense but exciting. “Every performance felt important,” she said. “You could feel the pressure, but also the passion from the dancers. The energy was unreal. “The precision, especially in synchronization and formations, was on another level compared to other competitions.”
