The College Football National Championship has just concluded, and the Indiana Hoosiers were crowned Champions of the 2025-2026 College Football season. They were favorites coming into this game, and they did deliver on their expectations at Hard Rock Stadium, defeating the Hurricanes 27-21, winning the Hoosiers their first National Championship. You can say that Indiana was just the better team, but there is more to it. So, let’s break down the College Football National Championship.
The first quarter was a defensive battle with both teams getting stops, but Indiana was the first to strike with a lengthy drive late in the quarter, resulting in 3 points. Indiana’s defense held Carson Beck and the hurricanes to zero points in the whole first half while Mendoza led his Hoosiers to ten points. Miami wouldn’t just give up like that though. For their first possession in the second half, Mark Fletcher Jr was able to find a gap and run for a 57-yard touchdown. Fletcher ended the night with two touchdowns and 112 yards. “Fletcher is a really good running back and should be elite in the next level” (Mr.Hunt) Fletcher’s performance wasn’t enough to keep Miami in the game. A muffed punt attempt would see Indiana getting an easy touchdown with five minutes left in the third quarter. The Hoosiers managed to hold the Hurricanes off in the fourth quarter and win their first Championship. “Miami definitely stepped it up in the second half after an abysmal first” (Jack Janiga 12)
Looking ahead to next season, we are already off to an interesting start with action in the Transfer Portal “I think the transfer portal will spread the talent pool and no teams will be overpowered.” (Jack Janiga 12) There are some other teams in contention for the championship next season, “I think Indiana is going to go back-to-back, but I also think Texas Tech could also win.” (Mr. Hunt) This season had a lot of excitement and like other fans I am excited for what is in store this offseason and what programs are going to do to prepare for the 2026-2027 season.
