Drake Baldwin is a Catcher in Major League baseball for the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are located on the east coast and play in the National League division along with the Mets, Phillies, and Marlins.
Drake Baldwin was drafted in the 3rd round as the 96th overall pick to the Braves in 2022. He worked quickly through the minors and made it to the Major League this past summer as his debut. Late fall, Drake Baldwin won the Rookie of the year award for the National league.
“I think he was the best pick for the award and I figured he was going to win it since he was a favorite across the whole summer,” explains Carson Waters(11) on Drake Baldwin’s award.
Drake Baldwin finished the regular season with a total of 405 at bats holding a .274 batting average. He finished with 19 homeruns, 80 runs batted in, and an OPS of .810. He finished with an outstanding rookie season which led to him winning the Rookie of the Year award.
“I think Jacob Misiorowski would’ve been a good pick if Drake Baldwin didn’t win,” says Noah Womeldorf(11). Carson Waters(11) adds on, “I don’t think there’s another good pick for this year the rookie class wasn’t that special, but I would probably choose Jacob Misiorowski since he had a decent season pitching, he just came in late into the season.”
Drake Baldwin was the right pick for this award and was well deserved with him helping the Atlanta Braves on this past challenging season with multiple injuries occurring the regular season. Go Braves!
