The Blue Jays and Dodgers will face off to decide the winner of the 2025 World Series. Games began on Oct. 24 and could last until Nov. 1, if necessary. The question is: Who will win it all?
The Dodgers beat the Brewers in the NLCS to advance, while the Blue Jays defeated the Mariners in the ALCS, sending both teams to the World Series. The Blue Jays finished the season 94-68, and the Dodgers finished 93-69.
Both teams had impactful players throughout the seven-game series. Trey Yesavage was a notable pitcher for the Blue Jays, finishing with a 1-0 record, a 2.84 ERA and 17 strikeouts across 14 innings — an impressive performance for a rookie. Yoshinobu Yamamoto had an outstanding series for the Dodgers, going 3-0 with a 1.02 ERA and 15 strikeouts across 17 2/3 innings, including a complete game in Game 2.
Carson Waters, an 11th grader, and Camden Tarr, a 10th grader, both picked the Blue Jays to win the World Series over the Dodgers. Across the country, the Blue Jays were widely considered the favorite, even with the Dodgers returning to the World Series for the second straight year.
“I think that Shohei Ohtani will win the World Series MVP due to him being a great hitter and pitcher,” Waters said. Tarr countered, “I think that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will win the World Series MVP since he has been hitting really well in the playoffs and has performed strongly on defense.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers ended up winning the World Series in Game 7, making them champions for the second year in a row. Yamamoto won the World Series MVP after an incredible postseason, including two wins as a starter, one complete game and a clutch relief appearance in Game 6, all contributing to a historic performance.
