Hidden Valley High School’s Varsity Volleyball Team has been nearly undefeated this season, standing in second place for the region and 28th in the state.
“I think our team this year is still good, considering we lost six seniors, and we were all starters,” says Kenley Brown (11). “We all get along on and off the court, which I think helps how we play, especially in tight situations.”
“It’s definitely a really good team. We have a lot of chemistry,” Mia Jolley (10) says.
The strength of a team stems from synergy and connection. As Brown highlights, the relationship between players nourishes their performance in matches.
“A team is only as strong as its weakest link because one player’s mistakes can cost points. However, strong teams know how to support each other and help in spots their teammates struggle in,” Brown observes.
Even with a strong team, there are challenges to be overcome. Jolley predicts Christiansburg will be their biggest competition.
Despite losing a game, the team hasn’t lost their motivation or enthusiasm. The loss is pushing them forward to meet their goals. Every team has goals for a season, just as every player does.
Brown says, “My personal goals this season are to have a fun junior year and make it as far as we can post-season. The last two seasons I have played, we won states, and I would love to win again.”
“My personal goals for this season are to 1) be a supportive teammate, 2) maintain a high hitting percentage, and 3), improve at passing and serve receive,” Mae Kochenderfer (9) states.
Hidden Valley High School is cheering on our volleyball team, excited to see where they end up! Go Titans!
