College Football is on the hot seat this year; one of America’s most watched sport is now is back in season heading into week 5.
AP polls were dropped before the season and have dropped significantly from where they were at the start. The preseason number 1 ranked, University of Texas, has dropped down to number 10 in the rankings. Teams like Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt have jumped up from being unranked to potentially being playoff contenders. Clemson, which was a favorite to win the national championship, South Carolina, and Kansas State have all dropped becoming unranked, all expected to have big effects in the AP poll this year.
“I think that Tennessee is one of the toughest teams this year, and will be a serious competitor for highly ranked teams,” explains Oliver Lichtenstein(11).
Carson Waters(11) counters, “I think Georgia is a tough team this year, they are my pick to win it all.” Waters continues, “I think the Syracuse over Clemson will be the biggest upset for this year since Clemson hasn’t been doing very well all year.”
Clemson has had a rough start to their season starting off 1-3 for the first time under Dabo Sweeny with their only win coming close to an unranked Troy team. On the other hand, Clemson has had one of the hardest opening schedules in College Football.
Oliver Lichtenstein goes on to say, “I think that the USF vs. Florida will end up being the biggest upset since Florida was predicted to be in the SEC championship.”
USF, otherwise known as University of South Florida, traveled to the big Florida Gators to face off in week 2. USF ended up on top with the finishing score of 18-16 against the Gators on their home turf. Florida has one of the toughest schedules among all teams but, has held all fans upset due to the promise held by their coach in the preseason.
College Football is going to be big this season with many powerful teams finally showing their colors. Many teams have dropped and many have risen. The big question is; Who will win it all?
