A new Publix supermarket is set to open in the Cave Spring area of Roanoke, Virginia, the store, expected to open in late 2025, will be located off Electric Road, bringing new competition to the familiar grocery stores.
Publix, a Florida-based supermarket chain, is known for its delicious food, friendly staff, and clean store, and has been expanding across Virginia in the past few years. A Hidden Valley student who used to live in Florida, Kate Kadella (11) said “Publix is literally the best grocery store ever, I feel like I’ll make the are busier, but honestly, it’s for the better,” Kadella (11) also mentioned the idea of having a Crumbl Cookie in location in Roanoke which would grab a lot of attention.
Business marketing teacher Mr. Hunt at Hidden Valley said he believes the addition of Public will “increase the quality of grocery stores in the area. With competition always comes higher quality- and Publix is just a good place to go shop and eat.” The Publix is expected to bring more jobs, convenience, as well as boosting competition with existing stores like Kroger and Food Lion. Mr. Hunt also mentioned “If we had a Costco, we would be very happy.” In hopes of many additions to Roanoke’s growing economy.
Locals are excited; many residents view the new Publix as a positive addition due to its strong reputation for consistent convenience and quality. Anticipation is high that the store will become a popular destination in the Roanoke area.
