Markiplier, a YouTuber, released his movie directed and produced by himself. Most known for his gaming career on YouTube, Markiplier has been working on a movie based on an indie horror game, Iron Lung, for the past few years.  Releasing on January 30, 2026 Iron lung is a creative take on a horror game he use to love playing.

The story takes place almost entirely in a submarine called the Iron lung, set to explore a desolate planet to see if its inhabitable. Our main character, Simon, is picked to embark on this journey in order to gain his freedom. As we follow the story Simon sends in images of the planet and communicates to an unseen character on the main land. After a long time going deeper and deeper to the planets core we see outlines of what lives deep in the planet.

This movie is a slow burn movie eventually coming to the big conclusion. Iron Lung was Markiplier’s biggest project that he put countless effort into, with it all paying off. Night one of Iron Lung’s release it sold out across the globe and soured to number one in the box office for a span of a few days. No one, not even Markiplier himself, expected this film to succeed as much as it did.

Not only was this a huge delight for Markiplier to experience but it was also amazing for his fans to see a film made by their favorite YouTuber. Julian Neighbors (11) was able to see this film in theaters when it released. Neighbors had said “It was awesome to see one of my favorite people to watch growing up’s movie and really be able to see how much work he put into this project.” Iron Lung was once a dream from Markiplier, and is now a reality being supported by all his fans.

What started as an idea seeming to be impossible soon turned into a reality. Over the span of 3 years Markiplier put blood, sweat, and tears into this project and it all shows. Congratulations to Markiplier and anyone else involved in this project for its success and love from the fans.
