Rainbow Kitten Surprise released their new album, Bones, on September 26, 2025. The album consists of ten tracks with steady themes of emotional vulnerability and self-reflection. Although it is on the shorter side for an album, many fans find it equally as moving.
The album starts off strongly with the song “Friendly Fire”. The song focuses on pain that we can inflict on ourselves and others giving the track its name, “Friendly Fire”. This metaphor represents the pain that we are bound to cause not only ourselves but others.
Another fan-favorite song from the album is “100 Summers”. This song feels most authentic to their previous releases. It is packed with a larger emotional weight than other songs on the album. The song represents living through many different emotional seasons in your life and finding light in all of them. 100 Summers most captures the themes of self-reflection and healing as it suggests a life after trauma and hurt.
Finally, the song “bones” perfectly represents the albums overall themes and messages they wished to convey. The song is about confronting your past pain with complete honesty. The song is titled “bones” because of the message that to get over pain and move on it is important to self-reflect and know yourself to your core. The meaningful message of this song is conveyed through its lyrics and tone.
Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s new album is an extremely powerful album about how to heal as well as the journey to self-discovery. Overall, I believe it is not their best album, however it is still a beautiful collection of songs.
