Over the past four years, Tia Madhoun has proven to be a remarkable senior, demonstrating exceptional commitment throughout her academic journey at Hidden Valley High School. Not only did she excel academically, but she also grew personally, becoming more confident, independent, ambitious, and driven.
“DECA is my proudest activity that I’ve done,” Tia said. Being part of DECA helped her thrive in a variety of ways, including learning how to communicate with different types of people, gaining a better understanding of the business world, and stepping outside her comfort zone.
“By doing DECA these past three years, I’ve grown so much—especially when I qualified for SLC and got to compete at an international level,” she said.
Tia credits Mr. Hunt with being a major influence on her development.
“Mr. Hunt had the biggest impact on me because every time I see him, he brings a smile to my face,” she said. “He also played a big role in helping me understand the business world and work ethic.”
Throughout high school, friendships often serve as anchors, and for Tia, that friend was Matthew Luviano. Whether they were doing homework, volunteering, or participating in DECA, Matthew was always there.
“Matthew will always have that positive impact on my life wherever I go,” Tia said.
When asked what advice she’d give her freshman self, she said, “Do things outside your comfort zone and have fun while also focusing on your grades.”
Now that her high school chapter is complete, Tia is excited to embrace a new beginning at Roanoke College, where she will major in biology on the pre-med track.
“I am excited to enter this new chapter in my life, make new friends, and learn all about my major,” she said. She also expressed excitement about learning what a doctor’s daily life is truly like.
Before college begins, Tia has big plans for the summer. She looks forward to spending time at the beach and traveling to France and Italy.
