A major project led by Cheryl Faccaini will replace the current Hidden Valley High School soccer field with a new turf field during the 2025-26 school year, bringing an exciting and long-awaited change to the campus.
The new field will provide multiple benefits, including easier maintenance, greater durability and the ability to be played on in nearly all weather conditions. Unlike the soon-to-be-gone grass field, turf cannot become muddy from rain and does not need regular mowing. That means fewer cancellations for practices and games, a reduced risk of injuries from uneven surfaces, and a flatter, more predictable playing field.
Hidden Valley Athletic Director Mr. Weaver, a key advocate for the project, said both the soccer and lacrosse teams will use the field for games and practices. He added that the project is scheduled to be completed by March 1, 2026.
Weaver also believes the new field will help boost lacrosse attendance. Previously, lacrosse home games were played off campus at Bogle Stadium. “Having lacrosse games on campus with other spring sports like tennis, softball and baseball will make it easier for fans to attend,” he said.
Students are also enthusiastic about the change.
“I am very excited for the new turf field and to finally be able to play on a flat surface,” said senior soccer player David Faltas. “I believe it will really help everyone on the team improve to their full potential.”
The project represents a major step forward for Hidden Valley athletics. Players and coaches alike look forward to fewer weather-related cancellations, fewer injuries and a better overall playing experience once the new field is complete.
