The Hidden Valley Girls Lacrosse Team had their senior night on Tuesday April 22nd at bogle field. This year, the girl’s team has 5 seniors that were recognized: Maddi Carter, Ella James, Ann Elise Kadela, Aliza Harner, and Calli Anderson. All seniors on the lacrosse team are celebrated for their years of playing lacrosse and dedication to the team. Each senior gets individually announced to everyone in the stands to hear for their accomplishments and future plans as they are graduating in 4 weeks. This is a very meaningful tradition that all student athletes deserve.
Many of the players on the Girls Lacrosse Team have been playing lacrosse for many years. Ann Elise Kadela states “I started playing lacrosse my freshman year and have been playing ever since”. Playing lacrosse for 4 years had many positive effects on Kadela. “This team has a very healthy environment and nice teammates,” stated Kadela. “I love how we are all friends, we get along very well,” said Kadela.
Ella James, Captain and goalie, has been playing lacrosse for 10 years. “Having this much experience made me love this sport, as I am committed to Emory & Henry to continue playing” stated James. Ella was asked how being a captain helped her grow as a person. “Being able to be a leader and always being a trustworthy person for my teammates to come to has really made me grow as a person and realize how important it is to be a role model” James stated as she really enjoys being a captain and someone her teammates feel comfortable with.
Throughout these seniors’ years at Hidden Valley, they have made many memories with their friends/teammates and grown as a person. Kadela and James shared their favorite memory throughout their high school lacrosse career. “Beating Salem when it was pouring down rain was a very fun game for me that will always be my favorite” stated James. Looking back, seniors will always remember the countless hours spent practicing, perfecting their game together, and the hard work that paid off. “My favorite memory is when we beat cave spring this year,” Kadela stated.
Overall, the seniors on the lacrosse team have many cherished memories and hard- fought battles. The seniors have not only dedicated their time, but also leadership and skill for the underclassman to look up to. As they move forward and start new chapters of their life at college, the memories of playing lacrosse serve as a reminder of their hard work and the strong bonds they have formed along the way. All of the victories, intense practices, and joyous celebrations have all contributed to years that will be remembered for years to come.
