Miles Lusk attended Hidden Valley High School for three out of his four high school years. As a freshman, he was a student at North Cross School. Throughout high school, Miles achieved many things, both inside and outside the classroom. He played on the basketball team for two years, created his own clothing business, and built strong friendships.
Miles said his favorite high school memory was playing junior varsity basketball during his sophomore year.
“I learned how to be a leader and had many opportunities to show my basketball skills,” he said. “Playing on a team with younger guys is good because I can show or teach them the mistakes I made when I was their age.”
While Miles learned many lessons from different teachers, he said one educator stood out the most: Mrs. Griffin.
“She taught me more about a subject—English—than any other teacher I’ve ever had,” he said.
Outside of academics and athletics, Miles is passionate about his clothing business, which he started during his junior year. He buys and resells clothes and has learned valuable lessons about managing a business and working with customers.
In addition to his entrepreneurial efforts, Miles works for his family’s businesses, Bobby’s Hot and Cheesy Pizza and Bubblecake. He also helped several of his Hidden Valley classmates get jobs there to earn money and gain useful life skills.
This fall, Miles will attend Virginia Tech, where he plans to study journalism in pursuit of a fulfilling career and future.
