Seniors Brady McHenry and Simon Hughes worked very hard to create and prepare the senior video, which was shown on senior day at Hidden Valley. To celebrate the seniors at Hidden Valley, senior day is all about them. One special aspect of senior day is the senior video. This video is created every year by a few students in the mass communications class at Burton. This year, only two seniors were in charge of creating this video. The senior video is a montage of the senior class, showcasing many special moments throughout the year.
Brady McHenry, a senior, was one of the students who had the role of creating the senior video. When asked how he obtained the role of creating the senior video, he stated, “Since Simon and I were the only seniors in our mass comm. class, we automatically got the role.” This also posed as a challenge for them. “With only two of us,” McHenry states, “it was hard to get our own video clips for everything that was in the video.” Once the video was done, he was most excited about showing the video to the senior class during the assembly on senior day. “I was really excited to see the final product and be able to show it to everyone else,” said McHenry.
Senior Simon Hughes shared that “the creation of the senior video is the responsibility of the seniors at Burton to create the senior video for their base schools.” Not only is the video a tradition at Hidden Valley, it is also a tradition for other schools in Roanoke County. Hughes also shared a little bit about the process of creating the video. “Brady and I split the sports in half,” Hughes said, “We spent the year trying to make as many sporting events as possible trying to get good footage that encapsulates the senior experience.” Like McHenry, Hughes said that he was most excited about sharing the video to his fellow classmates, and to show the skills and they had learned throughout mass comm.
The senior video is something that is very special to the senior students at Hidden Valley. The video captures so many special moments from the last school year of the class of 2025. With everything from sports events to school dances, the video is a great collage of memories for the seniors to remember. This tradition at Hidden Valley will hopefully continue for years to come.
