The Hidden Valley High School DECA club hosted an event called Donut’s with DECA on September 10th in the library as well as in Mr. Hutchins (teacher) room at 7:45am.
Donut’s with DECA was an event hosted by Mr. Hunt (teacher) along with the help of the students in DECA leadership. This meeting was created with the goal of informing potential DECA members. Mr. Hunt, DECA Club staff sponsor, exclaimed, “Deca offers so many things that you don’t get anywhere else… DECA is the single solitary place in the school where you can get all business professional information that you might/want/need or will help you in the future. People never regret joining DECA, they only regret not joining DECA.”, showing how impactful and beneficial DECA can be to the students who join.
When it came to planning Donut’s with DECA, students from leadership formed groups for the topics that they wanted to discuss, according to Mr. Hunt. Addy Weaver, DECA president stated, “Donuts with DECA was really a group effort from the entire leadership team as well as Mr. Hunt and Mr. Hutchins,” showing how students within DECA leadership where the ones in charge of planning the event.
Mr. Hunt said, “I thought that for the people who were there it was great, we just wanted a little more participation.” Hoping to gain more participation, DECA is hosting another event in the near future at Garst Mill Park by the pickleball courts. This event will help further connect potential members with people in DECA.
Donut’s with DECA not only garnered interest in DECA from potential members but also taught many students the skills and work necessary to be successful. Come to the next DECA event if you want to learn how to be both successful in your role plays and to learn about DECA in general!
