Mrs. Waggoner is all smiles in her new office.

Mrs. Waggoner, a former Spanish teacher of Hidden Valley High, is enjoying her new role of being assistant principal during the 2022-2023 school year.

Over 20 years ago, Mrs. Waggoner started teaching Spanish at Hidden Valley. She then transitioned to the Dean of Students and is currently enjoying her position as Assistant Principal. Mrs. Waggoner has worked for Hidden Valley since the school first opened and explained that her path to Assistant Principal was similar to that of stepping stones stating, “I had been a Spanish teacher for over 20 years and when the Dean of Students position became available for the last school year, I applied for that and was fortunate enough to get it, and then we had an opening for this position for this year, so then I was able to step from that office to this one.”

Mrs. Waggoner’s new position has proved to be quite different from her past roles. She enjoys the more spontaneous nature of her job, saying she “[does] like how the day goes by much more quickly” and “[she] is able to be in hallways and in the cafeteria so [she] still [has] interaction with students.” Mrs. Waggoner also mentioned that “being a Spanish teacher, [she] had some students for all four years of high school, so [she] was able to build deeper relationships with them than [she] can necessarily build here,” which she misses. However, she does have a wider reach of influence now and can help more students in her administrative position.

Mrs. Waggoner feels proud and happy with her accomplishment. She was “[…] very excited when [she] found out that [she] got the position” and is “[…] thankful [she] got to stay in this building because [she] has been here since the school opened.” Through diligence and commitment, Mrs. Waggoner has achieved her goal of being an in-builder administrator and will continue to make a difference here at Hidden Valley High.
