This year some of Hidden Valleys English teachers may be quite a bit busier because their free periods have now been taken up by extra English classes. Mrs. Pressley, a teacher that has been particularly busy at HVHS comments “I might be a bit busier especially on B-days because of the new class,” Mrs. Pressley used to have a free block on B-days during B6 but she now has a new English class. With this new class she has to on occasion come in early or stay late to have time to grade all their assignments.
“I like to have more projects rather than straight up tests or quizzes,” Mrs. Pressley’s assignments are usually a blend of projects and reading assignments. When Madeline Kenney (9) said “I think that the idea of artistic elements is really cool, but it puts pressure on the students to complete them in a tight timeframe,” Mrs. Pressley usually adds an aspect of art into her assignments, and projects which is enjoyable for the more artistic students, but sometimes deadlines are a challenge. “I love art and love it when my students give me any type of art,” Artistic ability though appreciated is not required, and also is usually extra credit for group, and individual projects alike.
“I also enjoy teaching photojournalism for my A1 class,” Mrs. Pressley also teaches Photojournalism, which is a class where they take pictures, interviews, and more. This class has the goal of making a fun and interesting Yearbook! They have special sections they make to make it more fun for readers. Having the extra class is a hard thing for any teacher, but its appreciated that Mrs. Pressley makes her classes fun regardless of the challenge. Please be aware of how much effort our wonderful HVHS teachers work for us!
