Hurricane Ian Devastates Florida

Hurricane Ian Devastates Florida

On September 28th, Hurricane Ian made landfall, destroying homes and devastating people all over Florida. Hurricane Ian was a category 4 hurricane and one of the strongest Hurricanes to hit the US. The Hurricane has left flooding and destruction all throughout Florida. Once some of the flooding in Florida had subsided, rescue teams arrived to help people trapped in flooded homes. Eighty-nine people passed away from the hurricane and the devastation affected many other people’s lives including businesses and workplaces.

A student from Hidden Valley says, “I believe the destruction will be very hard on families especially in Florida because a lot of homes were destroyed, and the area is obviously unlivable due to the flooding.”

Two weeks after hurricane Ian had hit, people began to clear debris and collect any valuable items in their homes that had been left during the storm. Counties in Florida will be responsible for picking up debris. Residents of the counties will begin cleaning up from the storm by separating their garbage from storm debris. Due to the destruction that the hurricane caused it could take several months to years to fully recover from the event.

Another student from Hidden Valley says “I think that it will take a long time to recover from the destruction that hurricane Ian caused. I’ve seen pictures of the destruction and some places look unlivable.”

After this Hurricane the question arises of, will this year be a bad hurricane season? It’s predicted that it will be a bad Hurricane season but as of right now we’re at a below average start.
