Haunted houses are fun places to go to with your friends in October. They are loved by many for a rush of adrenaline and an enjoyable time. Haunted houses are a big attraction for everyone as there are many in the Roanoke area. They date back as far as the 19th century, when the first horror attraction was created. Since then, haunted houses have grown into extravagant, multi-hour-long affairs.
Virginia is home to many haunted houses. Some big haunted houses in the area are Blueridge Nightmares, Hexed, and Terror Manor.
Camlyn Morstad (10) said,” I am such an adrenaline junkie that I just love the feeling before you go in and then like when you are in there you are scared. I just love it.”
There are many different levels of haunted houses ranging from an easier scare level to a harder one.
Morstad said, “I am very jumpy, so when someone screams, I am going to jump but I really don’t get actually scared.”
Haunted houses are a fan-favorite activity in the late fall. Many high schoolers enjoy going around the state to find a new and favorite haunted house.
“My favorite haunted house is either Hexed Haunted Attraction or Terror Manor but specifically the blackout night at the end of the season there. Blackout night is fun since all the lights are out, it adds to the whole experience,” Camlyn Morstad said.
Haunted houses are an enjoyable fall and Halloween activity for many people in not only our area, but everywhere across the country.
