The 2028 summer Olympics are taking place in Los Angeles and with it coming back to America it is bringing back some old sports and adding a new one.
They are bringing back baseball/softball, cricket, and lacrosse. Cricket is being brought back for the first time since the summer Olympics in 1900. Lacrosse is finally back in the games since its absence after the 1948 summer Olympics. Baseball/softball had both been included in the 2020 summer Olympics but will not be included in the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, baseball and softball will be brought back in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Trent 12th grade said “Bringing back baseball is something I like, and I hope with it being in Los Angeles MLB players will partake in it because normally they don’t, and it makes it a lackluster event to watch. If the MLB players play in it then it will be more like the World Baseball Classic which is an amazing spectacle.”
With this being the first summer Olympics held in America since the 1996 Olympics that took place in Atlanta it makes sense that America’s number one sport is apart of the games in some variation. Making the introduction of flag football to the Olympics clearer.
Anthony 12th grade said “I like the addition of flag football it will be enjoyable to watch especially since the NFL is trying to lobby their players into participating. It will also be enjoyable to see how well America dominates the other countries in it.”
