With the wrapping up of the 2023-2024 school year, it’s time to recognize our class of 2024 seniors for their time at Hidden Valley. One senior in particular stands out against the rest for her athletics, academics, and kindness: Lauren Murray (12).
During her time at Hidden Valley High School, Lauren participated in journalism for three years and various academic clubs. Lauren also participated in indoor track for two years and cross country, outdoor track, and swimming for all four years. Lauren plans to continue her love of sports and academics at Roanoke College, where she signed to run for their cross country and track teams and plans to major in political science and literature.
“My favorite memory from my time at Hidden Valley would be all of track and cross country,” says the senior as she reminisces on her fond memories of her time at the high school.
She recalls Mr. Fairchilds as her favorite staff member at the school as she spent time helping in the library after school on many occasions. As for what she’ll miss the most after graduating, Lauren says she’ll miss her underclassmen friends. Lauren tells us she has no regrets about her time in high school, saying “I don’t have any regrets, I think I did it exactly as I wanted to do.” She also shared a life lesson she’s taking away from her experience and time here: “Nothing is ever given, you have to work for everything, and nothing is ever guaranteed.”
Her advice for younger students, “Enjoy it and work hard because you only get one high school experience.”
