She participates in Indoor Track, Beta Club, and Mu Alpha Theta, while still being a superstar on the Lacrosse field.
This is Senior, Sarah Thomson.
Sarah has spent her whole life working at lacrosse, putting in endless hours of hard work towards her goal to play at the collegiate level.
After taking up travel lacrosse in 2019, she decided to make it her primary sport. In three short years, she became a speedy midfielder with quick dodging skills and a powerful non-dominant hand.
She has been a four-year varsity player, earning the MVP award in just her freshman year.
After leading the team in goals and groundballs, surpassing 100 career goals as just a junior, and representing her talents consistently, Sarah was chosen to represent Team Virginia at the USA Lacrosse National Tournament.
Not only has she had a successful High School career, but Sarah’s hard work has earned her the chance to play Division One Lacrosse at Virginia Tech starting this fall.
When asked what it took to get where she is today, Sarah (12) said, “Work hard but enjoy the journey. Everything happens for a reason and it’s all a part of life.”
Sarah had a memorable four years at Hidden Valley High School, her most memorable experience being her junior year pep rally, where rapper Harman 2x performed in front of the whole school.
Two teachers who have made an impact on Sarah that will last a lifetime are science teacher, Mrs. Karandikar, and History teacher Mrs. Sprenger.
Sarah thoroughly enjoyed her Senior year Government class taught by Mrs. Sprenger, and says this is what she will miss most.
One message that Sarah wants to leave behind to the classes below her is, “You get what you give. Don’t be upset by the results you didn’t get from the work you didn’t do.”
Sarah has left her mark on Hidden Valley and there is no doubt she will leave her mark in Blacksburg as well.
