This year Hidden Valley’s DECA club is hosting Angel Tree which will be ran and coordinated by Emily Roberts. The Angel Tree process has already started and will go on up until winter break. Emily Roberts (12) said, “With Angel Tree it’s as simple as grabbing an angel and then following the instructions on the angel”.
Angel tree is an organized operation where people grab an Angel off a tree. These angels are made of paper and are colored pink for the girls and blue for boys. Hidden Valley participates in Angel Tree to help out families who need necessities or can’t afford presents. When Roberts was asked who was benefited by Angel Tree she said, “The angel isn’t necessarily being used by a specific charity we talked to some of the middle schools, and they gave us lists of names and a few other things like sizes age and their wish list.”
Some of the middle schools included in this year’s angel tree are Northside, Hidden Valley, as well as a few others in the area. Emily said, “As a kid my family wasn’t in the best financially stable situation and if I had this when I was young, I would have been so happy, so we are trying to get the word out there and collect as many donations as possible.”
There is an announcement about Angel Tree every morning to help spread the word. “I am so excited to do this because last year I went out and bought stuff for one of the angels and it just made me feel empowered because I made a difference.” If you’re interested in donating to Angel Tree this year, please grab an angel off the tree and go talk to Mr. Hunt, Mr. Hutchins, or Emily Roberts for more information or any questions you may have.
