With Halloween coming to an end, the students at Hidden Valley during the 2023 – 2024 school year have chosen the top five worst Halloween candy.
The 5th worst Halloween candy is Candy Corn. Candy Corn is a horrible candy that most people hate. This is because of its lack of flavor, texture, and its horrible ingredients. Candy Corn has a flavor of a mix of vanilla and marshmallow with some honey. Sadly, when you mix all these wonderful flavors together, you get an overwhelming sweetness that most people can’t handle. Candy Corn texture consists of a dreadful waxy and oily feeling in your mouth after you finish it. Finally, Candy Corns ingredients consist of sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, and wax. All these horrible aspects combined makes Candy Corn the 5th worst Halloween candy.
The 4th worst Halloween candy is Tootsie Rolls. Tootsie Rolls suck because of their taste, texture, and ingredients. Tootsie Rolls don’t taste like chocolate. This is because it doesn’t contain any cocoa butter. This makes Tootsie Rolls taste horrible. This combined with it’s plastic like texture makes a tootsie roll taste fake. Finally, Tootsie Rolls ingredients are horrible for you. They contain sugar, corn syrup, palm oil, condensed skim milk, soy lecithin, and a bunch of artificial and natural flavors. Because of Tootsie Rolls’ weird texture and taste, it is well deserving of the 4th worst Halloween candy.
The 3rd worst Halloween candy is Twizzlers because of their taste and texture. Twizzlers have no flavor, except for a hint of cherry cough syrup. A Twizzlers’ texture is like plastic and is very chewy. Twizzlers ingredients are not horrible, but their taste and texture make up for that and secure its place as the 3rd worst Halloween candy.
The 2nd worst Halloween candy is Good and Plenty. This is because of its taste and horrible ingredients. Good and Plentiful is a licorice candy that tastes extremely awful with its very bitter taste. Good and Plenty also has horrible ingredients. It contains an ingredient called glycyrrhizin. When consumed in large amounts, glycyrrhizin can lead to abnormal heart rhythms, edema, high blood pressure, lethargy, or congestive heart failure. Because of Good and Plenty’s horrible taste and even worse ingredients, it is rightfully the 2nd worst Halloween candy.
The worst Halloween cany of all time is Dots, a gummy like candy. Dots took the place as the worst Halloween candy because of its texture, taste and ingredients. Dots have a very chewy texture that causes them to stick to your teeth a lot. Dots can even stay stuck in your teeth for up to a week if not cleaned out properly. Dots also taste horrible. This is because there is not enough flavor in Dots which causes them to taste like an old piece of gum. Sadly, for Dots, their ingredients are even worse than its awful taste and texture. Dots are primarily made up of corn syrup, sugar, and artificial colors. Dots don’t just have the normal amount of sugar for a piece of candy, it contains 2 grams of sugar per dot. This means if you have a box you get at the movie theater, it will contain 100 grams of sugar. Because of Dots’ horrendous taste, texture, and especially ingredients, it is obviously the worst Halloween candy of all time.
There is some pretty bad Halloween candy out there, but the worst of them, as decided by the HVHS students, has to be Dots, Good and Plenty, Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls, and Candy Corn. This is because of their dreadful taste, texture, and ingredients.
