On April 3, 2024, Zander Slough signed his intent to play college baseball at Bluefield University in Bluefield, Virginia.
Bluefield University is a small NAIA school in southwest Virginia. It is a Christian Baptist school that focuses on getting their students hands on experience while preparing them for the real world.
Zander has spent 3 years at Hidden Valley High School after transferring from Cave Spring High School, following his freshman year.
His teammates on Hidden Valley Varsity Baseball Team are excited for Zander’s opportunity. Sam McCown(12) said, “I am very excited for Zander and hope he has a good career at Bluefield University.”
“I think Zander made a good decision committing to Bluefield University because he’s going to be going to a place that standardizes his beliefs. For the years I’ve known him, he has been very devoted to God, going to church, and participating in his youth group with his friends and family,” said Trent McQuade(12).
Zander plays mostly right field but also pitches. He finished the regular season of his senior year with a .372 batting average.
“I think Zander will be a good factor for his college team, because he always hustles and puts in hard work. He does a good job making sure the plays are made right and is very smart on where he should be and what he should be doing,” stated Sam McCown(12).
“I wish him the best of luck for his upcoming college season, and I hope we have a good time during our final playoff run as seniors,” said Trent McQuade(12).
