On March 21st the Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament started with 67 games over the next three weeks taking place all over the US based on which division they play in.
Of all four divisions on the tournament the East is one of the deepest out of the 4, with last years champion UConn at the 1-seed, the Big 12 conference winner Iowa State at the 2-seed, and the Big 10 conference winner Illinois at the 3-seed.
Along with these perineal powerhouses there are also many mid to low seed teams that can make a potential deep run or first round upset like Yale who has the potential to beat the 4-seed Auburn, and 5-seed San Diego State who made it to the championship last year but ended up falling to UConn 59-76.
UConn went 35-3 this year winning the Big East tournament and was the consensus number 1 team in college basketball during the final AP poll before the tournament began. Their fist round matchup against Stetson should be a easy win seeing as they have only one player averaging 20 plus points per game with the next three highest scores being at 13, 11, and 10 points per game respectively.
The team that poses the biggest threat to UConn is Illinois who finished 29-9, won the Big 10, and finished 10th in the final AP poll. Illinois is lead by the guard duo of Terrance Shannon and Marcus Domask who are averaging 23 and 4 and 16 and 5 respectively.
With all this being said it is very likely that UConn will advance to the final four seeing as they are 66-11 over the past two years and cruised through their conference tournament and will likely cruise through the east and make it to the championship this year and have a good chance of being repeat champions.
