The Varsity Volleyball team came in just second in one of their biggest tournaments of the 2023- 2024 school year, at Virginia Beach.
Although they came in second, they were still very proud of their performance. Shae Torrence (12) said, “The team fought hard throughout every game, and we played some great teams that pushed us to grow and get better together.”
The tournament was very competitive. The volleyball team was challenged by facing teams who were just as athletic and tall as they were, but through their adversity and hard work they managed to beat the powerful teams. Shae Torrence said, “Although it was a long and tiring day, not one of my teammates slowed down or complained.”
Although the team did a very good job at the tournament, they also improved their skills by bonding with each other. The team hung out between every game and even went to the beach together. The team also went out to eat with each other multiple times. Chloe Muscaro (11) said, “My favorite thing about the tournament was hanging out with my teammates and going out to eat with them.” All the Volleyball team had lots of fun hanging out and even showed communication improvement after the tournament due to the team bonding.
The Volleyball team did so good that three Hidden Valley Players were named an all-tournament team member. An all-tournament team member is an honor bestowed at the end of a conference tournament to the players who performed best during the championship. The three Hidden Valley students who received this honor were Shae Torrence, Caleigh Ponn (11), and Sophie Arnold (11). Shae Torrence said, “I was truly shocked to be one of 3 titans to be named apart of the all-tournament team as a middle blocker.” These three players went above and beyond during the tournament and helped Hidden Valley achieve second place at one of the hardest volleyball tournaments of the year.
The Hidden Valley Varsity Volleyball team faced one of the most challenging tournaments they had ever seen. Although it was hard, their willingness to not give up and their competitive edge gave them the upper hand and allowed them to achieve second place. The Volleyball team is very proud of themselves and each other, knowing that they made our school proud with how well they played.
