The holiday season is known for being one of the most exciting times of year where people make memories with friends and family, go to exciting events, and celebrate annual traditions to make it a special experience for all.
Roanoke is a place full of fun events that can make these memories so special to everyone such as holiday parades, light shows, and festivals!
In Downtown Roanoke there is a Christmas parade that fills the streets with people in the Christmas spirt. It takes place on December 8th and is something tons of people look forward to!
Natalie Older (11) says, “I’ve gone to the Christmas parade for the last 5 years and it’s something my family always has made sure everyone goes to.”
The Light shows are something many people of Roanoke go to annually to take pictures and admire the light displays. The Illuminights is the most popular of these light exhibitions and it is available from November 18 – December 30.
Kelsey Dudley (9) says, “I go to the Illuminights once or twice a year and I always take Instagram pictures there since it’s so pretty.”
There are also festivals such as the Delta Dental Dickens of a Christmas taking place in Downtown Roanoke, the Gingerbread Festival, and the Candy Cane Festival.
Roanoke is a beautiful place to live in, and Christmas is a time of year where other people can appreciate how fun it is to live here!
