A new voice is emerging at Hidden Valley High School. Titan TED, a student-run podcasting club, was launched last year by juniors Norah Poff, Madi Salinas and Alishba Sofi, with sponsorship from History teacher Mr. Luckett.
The club meets every club day and hopes to begin meeting twice a month this year. Its goal is to keep students informed and engaged while adding a lighthearted, entertaining touch to school news.
“There are so many other places to get school information, but this is different,” Salinas said. “It’s directed by students who want to give you reliable updates about what’s happening at HVHS.”
The podcast isn’t live yet, but the group plans to post episodes on the Hidden Valley website in the near future. Episodes will cover school events such as dances, sports and other activities.
Poff said the team tried to launch last year but faced funding challenges. The group applied for a grant to cover equipment costs, which is still pending. “We ran into some problems last year,” Poff said. “But this year we’re ready to go.”
Club meetings typically begin with members discussing school events and topics, while Luckett focuses on the technical side of recording.
Salinas said she hopes the podcast will have a lasting impact. “This will allow students and staff to become more involved as they are informed about school-sponsored events,” she said.
The Titan TED team is working to deliver news, entertainment and important dates directly to the HVHS community. Students and staff are encouraged to keep an eye on the school website for the first episode.
