As Mrs. Coffey leaves the school, the new Dean of Students, Mrs. Akers, arrives at Hidden Valley High School for the 2025-2026 school year. The dean of students’ role focuses on overseeing the students’ services, campus life, and student support to foster a positive and engaged environment. Their responsibilities have a very important impact on Hidden Valley High School.
Mrs. Akers started off teaching English at William Byrd High School before deciding to take up a new role at Hidden Valley High School. “I came to Hidden Valley because I was ready to move in education and sometimes when you are moving up in education you have to move out since there aren’t any positions open at your current school,” said Mrs. Akers.
Mr. Jablonski, shared his positive outlook on the new dean of students, highlighting the value of Mrs. Akers’ role in the school. He pointed out Mrs. Akers’ dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, which aligns with the school’s overall goal. “She brings us fresh ideas on how to make sure kids are following the rules and overall helping with attendance, extracurricular activities, and making sure students are safe” explains Mr. Jablonski (Staff). Mr. Jablonski sees this role as a promising development for the school’s future.
