Aung Soe, a senior at Hidden Valley High School for the 2024–2025 school year, has made a lasting impression through his kindness, energy, and love for sports. A member of the Hidden Valley soccer team, Soe built friendships while showcasing his athleticism and school spirit.
Soe, a naturally social and outgoing student, shares that some of his favorite high school memories were spent with friends. “My favorite memory throughout all of high school was hanging out with my friends and playing sports with them after school,” he said. These moments highlight how much Soe values both friendship and shared experiences.
Reflecting on those who influenced him the most, Soe recalled a teacher from his freshman year. “Although I don’t remember her name, she helped me a lot by giving me good advice and encouraging me because I couldn’t speak English very well. She was just like a mother to me,” Soe said. This early support made a powerful impact on his high school journey.
Soe also credits one of his classmates for helping him through tough times. “A friend from my English class had a really positive influence on me. He helped me with life problems, gave me good advice, and we joke a lot. He’s just a nice guy,” Soe said.
One of Soe’s proudest accomplishments is his time on the school’s soccer team. “I enjoyed spending time with my coaches and friends,” he said. “Soccer helped me show my energy, strength, and skill.” His dedication on and off the field reflected his commitment to teamwork and personal growth.
When asked what advice he would give his freshman self, Soe responded, “Always be kind to people because you never know what they are going through.” This compassionate mindset has shaped Soe’s high school experience and the way he treats others.
Looking ahead, Soe is eager for what’s next. “I’m most excited to have the freedom to do and choose who I want to be—even though it can be hard to find,” he said. To celebrate graduation, he plans to take a road trip to Colorado with close friends. “Spending quality time with them before we go our separate ways means a lot to me.”
Soe also hopes to explore new hobbies. “A skill I’ve always wanted to learn is the piano,” he said. “I’ve wanted to learn since I was a kid.” He’s also passionate about showing kindness and helping others, both mentally and financially. “Some ways I plan to show I care are by just being thoughtful, kind, and respectful toward who people are,” he said.
Soe plans to stay connected with his good friends from high school, stating, “They’ve been there for me, and I know they’ll continue to be in my life.” His thoughtful nature and dedication to relationships set a strong foundation for the future.
When asked which historical figure he’d most like to have dinner with, Soe said, “If I had the chance to eat dinner with anyone, it would be Abraham Lincoln—he just seemed like a really chill guy.”
Soe also shared that he identifies with George Floyd, saying he was inspired by Floyd’s impact and hopes to inspire others in his own way.
As Aung Soe finishes his four years at Hidden Valley, he looks forward to relaxing, discovering new passions, and shaping his future with the same positivity and kindness he’s shown throughout high school. We wish him all the best in this exciting new chapter.
