When you think of someone who, throughout four years of high school, has lifted others up and made memories that truly matter, Class of 2025 member Sarah Skime stands out. Whether she’s editing an article for journalism or planning her future as a nurse, Sarah approaches it all with dedication and heart.
This fall, Sarah will attend Radford University, where she plans to major in nursing and minor in business. It’s a natural path for someone whose goal is to “help people in need.”
Looking back on high school, Sarah said her favorite memory was making a lasting friendship during journalism class her junior year.
“Sitting next to Fayrin Mitchum is something I’ll always remember,” she said. “She’s become my best friend, and we’re going to college together as roommates.”
That bond is one Sarah deeply values, saying Fayrin is the one person she couldn’t imagine going through high school without.
Sarah also credits school counselor Mrs. Laubach with making a lasting impact.
“She got me through a lot,” Sarah said, expressing her appreciation for the support she received over the years.
Among her proudest accomplishments is her work in journalism. She joined the class her sophomore year and eventually became an editor, an achievement she calls “one of the most rewarding experiences” of her high school career.
If she could give advice to her freshman self, Sarah would offer this simple yet meaningful encouragement: “No matter how much it doesn’t seem like it, it’s going to be okay.”
That kind of calm, caring wisdom reflects the person Sarah has become.
Looking ahead, she’s excited to make new memories, pursue her passions, and continue building strong connections. Although high school is coming to a close, she plans to stay in touch with the friends who shaped her journey.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, soaking up the moments that matter most. A fun fact for Gilmore Girls fans: Sarah and her mom even have matching tattoos inspired by the show as a symbol of their close bond.
Congratulations, Sarah Skime! The Hidden Valley community is proud of you and eager to see what great things you’ll accomplish next.
