Brendon Ross, a senior in the Class of 2025, has attended Hidden Valley High School for all four years. Over that time, he has built a strong academic and athletic résumé, earning a place in the Beta Club and playing on the Hidden Valley varsity baseball team, where he served as co-captain in his final year. With the team eyeing a deep run in the VHSL state playoffs, Brendon is proud of the journey that brought him here.
Brendon’s high school career began back in 2020. Reflecting on the experience, he shared, “My favorite memory from high school is when me and my friends got together to get ready for the upcoming years.”
A four-year starter on the baseball team, Brendon said he has had an amazing time playing under Coach Boone and Coach Slough. His passion for the sport has been a defining part of his high school years.
Off the field, Brendon formed strong friendships with classmates Simon Hughes, Garrison Brown and Noah Chrisley, creating countless lasting memories. He also excelled in the classroom and was accepted to Virginia Tech this past fall, where he plans to major in statistics.
Brendon credits one teacher in particular for helping him find his path.
“Mr. Beard helped me the most, especially in statistics, which is what I’ll be majoring in next fall,” he said.
If Brendon could offer advice to his freshman self, it would be: “Enjoy the time while it lasts, because before you know it you’ll be off in the real world.”
This summer, Brendon plans to spend quality time with family and friends before starting college.
“One thing I’m excited about is going to Clearwater, Florida, with my family,” he said.
He also hopes to spend more time hiking, a hobby he finds relaxing and rewarding. In addition, Brendon plans to continue volunteering at Feeding Southwest Virginia, where he served this past summer.
Although he’ll be heading to Virginia Tech in the fall, Brendon intends to keep in touch with friends from Hidden Valley, including fellow seniors who will be joining him in Blacksburg.
As he prepares to leave high school, Brendon is focused on making thoughtful decisions to become the best version of himself. Along with his continued support for Feeding Southwest Virginia, he hopes to get involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to help ensure all children feel supported.
While he’s sad to leave his childhood behind, Brendon is grateful for the journey and the memories. A lifelong admirer of MLB star Bryce Harper, Brendon said Harper’s intensity and love for the game helped inspire his own approach to baseball.
In his free time, Brendon enjoys watching movies. His favorite is Whiplash.
“If I could have dinner with any historical figure, it would probably be Albert Einstein,” he said. “I’d like to get his perspective on the world and get a grasp on how his brain works.”
Brendon Ross has made a lasting impact on Hidden Valley High School, and the Titan community wishes him the best of luck as he begins the next chapter at Virginia Tech.
