A Remedy to E-Hall Pass Problems

A Remedy to E-Hall Pass Problems

At Hidden Valley High, students and staff alike struggle with E-Hall pass and hall traffic. While E-Hall pass is a necessity to keep all members of HVHS safe, it is not without its flaws. The issues with the program mainly occur during second and fourth block, which has the unfortunate correlation with our school store’s hours.

Mrs. Ebel, a teacher at HVHS, has dealt with these problems personally. She stated that she has moderate difficulty sending kids to the bathroom during those blocks and though she likes the school store, she agrees that it causes some problems with hall traffic flow.

Laney Havens (11) has also “…had a lot of issues getting to the bathroom [due to E-Hall traffic],” saying once it took her fifteen minutes just to get to go to the restroom. She also cited an incident where she needed to go to the nurse to receive medicine but “couldn’t get there because the hall traffic limit was reached.” She and her classmates have shared frustrations with one another about the current hall traffic state.

So, what’s the solution? Obviously, the popular school store can’t be shut down. However, two separate categories of hall traffic would benefit the school population greatly. One category would include necessary locations, such as visiting the bathroom and the school nurse, while another category would contain all the less necessary locations, like the school store.

When asked how they would feel about the potential solution to E-Hall traffic, both Havens and Mrs. Ebel agreed that this would probably fix our current problem. Mrs. Ebel was quoted saying she “liked [the idea]” and thought it would help with the traffic in the hallways. So, administrators, what do you think?
