Prom 2022

Prom 2022

Jayden Smiley, Reporter

This years Prom was held April 9th at the Hidden Valley Country Club. After a year of mask mandates, prom was back into full swing this year.

Last years Prom due to the global pandemic was reserved only for the senior class and was required to wear masks. Masks and limited guests were not put into place this year and Prom went off without a hitch. Underclassmen unlike last year were allowed to come this year. The venue at the Country Club had a dance floor, DJ’s, tables and a bar with refreshments and snacks. A photo-booth with prop masks, and hats were also present. Prom formally started at 8:30, it wasn’t until around 9 to 9:30 is when it really started. The DJ’s selection of music was a bit bland until requests started coming in, at that time is when the dance floor started to fill up. Due to the limited size of the dance floor to how many people present; the dance floor was about shoulder to shoulder to all times. Around 10 is when Prom Court was announced, Prom King went to “cool guy” Julian Shellnutt and Queen went to Abbie Hippeard. After the Court Dance the King let the power go to his head and eventually left Prom looking like he ran a marathon.

Overall Prom was a good way for the Senior class along with some underclassmen to socialize with new and old friends, one of the last times the senior class will be together besides Senior Day and Graduation.
