Sports at Hidden Valley for the 2020-2021 school year may look a little different. Due to the Coronavirus, this year has been thrown out of whack.
All spring sports were cancelled last year due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the United States. This year, the plan is to delay and restructure the seasons, but proceed with restrictions in place. Cheerleader Kaitlyn Balci (9) said, “We will have to wear masks, stay socially distant, and we may not have a competition this year.”
When asked if the rules and restrictions bothered her, she said, “No, I don’t mind the rules because it keeps us safe, but I do want to compete really bad! I really hope we get to compete this year!”
Some other rules may include no shaking hands, no sharing equipment, and no after school team bonding experiences. Soccer player Jordan Lee (9) said, “A banquet will not be held and there will be no shaking hands.”
Hopefully the plan will procced; because if spring sports are canceled again, it would be horrible for spring sports seniors, who would miss half of their high school playing careers.
