A bad call from a referee during the Chelsea vs. Spurs game on August 14th of 2022 has gotten a coach kicked out and a referee hated. The game was held at Stamford Bridge stadium in London, England. Harry Kane scored a stoppage-time equalizer as Tottenham Hotspur snatched a 2-2 draw.

“As for the second goal by Harry Kane, I asked referee Anthony Taylor to wait while I looked at the incident involving Tottenham’s Cristian Romero and Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella,” Mike Dean wrote in a column for Mail+.

Mike Dean instructed referee Anthony Taylor to review VAR monitor after Dean admitted error during the game. Mike Dean has admitted that he was wrong not to instruct referee Anthony Taylor to review Tottenham Hotspur’s controversial late equalizer against Chelsea on the pitch-side VAR monitor. Dean opted not to flag the incident in which Romero pulled Cucurella’s hair before the Spurs scored their equalizer. But as seen earlier in the game Cucurella stepped on Romero causing people to question if it was a pro soccer game or a high school fight. Chelsea’s manager Thomas was furious at the referee’s poor call in the game and the decisions the officials made. He even got the point of saying that the referee will not be in charge of referring any more Chelsea games.
