NCAA Tournament Recap

The madness has only begun!

The madness has only begun!

This year was a very eventful March Madness with many upsets and surprises per usual. The championship was nothing less than exciting as the number one-seed, the Kansas Jayhawks, came out as this year’s champions against the eight-seed, North Carolina Tar Heels.

The biggest story of the tournament was the fifteen seed, St. Peters Peacocks, who became the first fifteen seed to reach the elite eight round. “They came together and showed what March Madness is about, an underdog team that showed anything can happen,” says Hunter Whittaker(12th).

The National Championship was a high pace and intense game as the underdog, the Tar Heels, came out firing, taking a fifteen-point lead at the half. Many people didn’t see Carolina making it to the championship this season due to them being an eight seed. Kansas came back from the half and played like an entirely different team, eventually coming back to win the game. “We underperformed at the end of the championship, but as a whole we showed out and played better than most would have thought,” Ashton Carroll(12th).

This year had some of the most exciting upsets in recent years and the players didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year’s tournament.
