Prior to school even starting, fall student athletes have already been practicing for a month. The volleyball, cheerleading, golf, football, and cross country teams all have started their own competitive seasons. They are all striving to make improvements, and are working hard every day to be the best version of themselves.

Cross Country has already had several meets, and have performed well in all of them.

“The expectations are pretty high, considering how well we have done at the start. We won our most recent meet, in both boys and girls,” said Jonah Harding (9).

They know the work is never done however, and they are ready to keep producing.

“We need to keep training hard, and we will keep improving,” said Harding (9).

People come to play sports for many reasons, and they come from all different backgrounds.

“My whole family has run and I felt like I could step right in and do it too,” said Harding (9).

The cross country team has high hopes for this year, with their eyes locked on a state championship.

“I think the team will reach its peak at states because we will come together for our biggest meet of the year,” said Thomas Rogers (9).

The volleyball team is also off to a great start, with a fantastic 11-1 record as of 9/27/18.

The golf team made states and will be playing in the state tournament in early October. They hope to bring home a state title for the school.

“I am incredibly proud of how the team has performed so far, and we are looking forward to playing in states,” said Harrison Withers (9).

The football team has been off to a less than stellar start, but are looking to continue to improve, after a victory over Abingdon on September 21.

Lastly, the cheerleading team has kicked off their season the best way possible, with a win in their first competition in Pulaski.
