Floods Throughout Brazil

On April 2nd, 2022, floods throughout the Rio de Janeiro state of Brazil. Long and constant rain has caused several casualties including children. The Thursday before this flood is when the rain started, the volume of rain that precipitated was the highest amount recorded in the region.  A landslide in the town of Paraty killed at least eight people, a father and seven of his children ages 2 to 17.  

At least four other people were injured after seven houses were hit by landslides in the coastal community of Ponta Negra, according to officials in Paraty. More than 22 neighborhoods sustained flooding and 71 families were displaced. Throughout the southern regions of Brazil, people are missing because of the floods while others that are found, are dead.
