Avatar 2: The Way of Water
March 2, 2023
The long awaited, 250 million dollar movie, Avatar: The Way of Water, has grossed over 2 billion USD only one month after its release. After the high anticipation and excitement for the movies release, its safe to say that James Cameron’s sequel to the 2009 hit was a success.
The movie had all of the classic and expected themes like adventure, war, fun, and crazy creatures of the wild world of Pandora. But, it also had many unexpected themes that blew myself, and many others away.
My favorite theme and aspect of this movie was the emphasis on family. The entire premise of the movie was Jake Sully doing everything in his power to protect his family, and he goes to great lengths to do so. The movie had me walking out of the theater with a new love and appreciation for my family and friends, and there is no doubt James Cameron intended the film to do so.
I also really enjoyed the Way of Water theme. In the original movie, Jake Sully is an incredible hero that can do anything. He is feared and respected by everyone. While this is still very true in the sequel, he and his family are also vulnerable, new, and different. They have to relearn the way of the people, learn how to fit in, how to survive. This was very humbling and appealing as a viewer.
The graphics and CGI were unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, and while the movie was almost three hours long, there were very few parts that felt slow or boring. I was on the edge of my seat the entire film. There were many twists and turns that kept the story exciting and fun to follow along with.
The story was amazing and eye opening. Watching the film was an amazing experience as a viewer, and i would rate it 5 out of 5 shields. So, anyone who has been waiting 13 years, or is just discovering the series now, make your way to the theatre and watch the amazing film, Avatar: The Way of Water.
